HostDec is a decentralized domain protocol operating on the Arbitrum One network. This Privacy Policy describes how HostDec ("we", "our") collects, uses and protects the information of users who interact with hostdec.com, the DApp, the desktop app and the protocol's smart contracts.
By using any of our services, you accept the terms of this policy. If you disagree, we ask that you do not use the site or the application.
HostDec collects only the data necessary for the service to function. We do not require account registration, email or personal data to use the protocol.
| Data | Source | Do we store it? | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wallet address | MetaMask / Web3 | On-chain public | Identify the NFT domain owner |
| Transactions | Arbitrum One | On-chain public | Immutable protocol record |
| IP address | Web server | Temporary | Security, rate limiting and technical logs |
| Browsing data | Anonymous analytics | Yes, anonymized | Improve the site experience |
| Domain name | DApp | On-chain public | Registration in the ERC-721 contract |
| IPFS CID | DApp | On-chain public | Link the domain to the site's content |
It is essential that you understand how the blockchain relates to your privacy. Every interaction with the HostDec smart contract on Arbitrum One is permanently recorded on the blockchain and is publicly accessible.
This includes:
- Your wallet address linked to every domain you register.
- The domain name you registered, along with the date and price paid in HDEC.
- The IPFS CIDs you linked to each domain (full history).
- Domain transfers between wallets, visible in the transaction history.
- Listings and sales made on the Marketplace.
If you want to maintain your privacy, we recommend using a wallet that is not publicly associated with your real identity. HostDec has no way of linking a wallet address to a real person unless you make it public yourself.
The data we collect is used exclusively for the following purposes:
- Operating the protocol: querying domain status, resolving CIDs and serving content from IPFS.
- Improving the service: analyzing anonymized usage patterns to improve the interface and user experience.
- Security and abuse prevention: detecting malicious behavior, denial-of-service attacks or fraudulent use.
- Technical support: if you contact us about a problem, we may use information from your inquiry to resolve it.
- Legal compliance: if required by law, we may be obligated to disclose certain data.
The site hostdec.com may use technical cookies and anonymous analytics tools to understand how users interact with the interface. We never use cross-site tracking cookies or cookies for advertising purposes.
| Type | Purpose | Do they identify the user? |
|---|---|---|
| Technical cookies | Interface preferences, wallet session | No |
| Anonymous analytics | Pages visited, time on site, errors | No |
| Third-party cookies | Not used | Not applicable |
You can disable cookies in your browser settings at any time. This will not affect the functioning of the protocol or your ability to register or manage domains.
We do not sell or rent personal data to third parties. However, using the protocol involves interaction with some external services:
- Arbitrum One / RPC: transactions are sent to the Arbitrum network. RPC nodes process these requests. You can use your own RPC node for greater privacy.
- IPFS (Pinata, Web3.Storage, etc.): your site's content is stored in IPFS services of your choice. Their own privacy policies apply.
- MetaMask or other wallets: the connection is made through your wallet. We have no access to your private keys at any time.
- Infrastructure providers: hosting and CDN services that process web traffic in a standard way. They do not share data for commercial purposes.
We will only share information if required by law or a competent judicial authority, and only to the extent we are legally obligated to do so.
HostDec Browser is a desktop browser designed
to access the decentralized web. It allows native resolution of
.hostdec domains without needing to install
plugins, modify DNS settings or rely on central servers.
The application works like a standard browser, but with the added ability to interpret decentralized domains and retrieve their content from Web3 infrastructure.
- Native resolution of
.hostdecdomains. - Direct access to decentralized web sites.
- No extensions or technical configurations required.
- Similar experience to using any traditional browser.
The installer can be downloaded from the
"Browser" section of the official site or from the repository
on GitHub. Simply download the
.exe file and run it to install it easily,
just like any other desktop application.
The browser's source code is publicly available on GitHub so that anyone can review and audit its operation.
When you publish a site on IPFS and link its CID to a HostDec domain, that content is publicly accessible to anyone who knows the CID or browses the domain.
Important considerations:
- IPFS is a distributed and public network. Any content you upload can be accessed, copied and replicated by third parties.
- If you use a pinning service (Pinata, Web3.Storage, etc.), their own privacy policy applies to the content you store there.
- Do not upload sensitive or private information to IPFS if you do not want it to be public and potentially permanent.
- Once a CID propagates through the IPFS network, its complete removal cannot be guaranteed, even if you stop pinning it.
Since HostDec operates as a decentralized protocol and does not require a user account, most protocol data is on-chain and by nature cannot be modified. However, you have the following rights regarding any off-chain data we may handle:
- Access: you can ask us what off-chain data we have associated with an IP address or your support inquiry.
- Rectification: if any off-chain data is incorrect, you can request that we correct it.
- Deletion: you can request the deletion of off-chain data (such as temporary IP logs). On-chain data cannot be deleted due to its immutable nature.
- Portability: you can export any data associated with your support inquiries.
- Objection: you can object to the use of analytics by disabling cookies in your browser.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us through the community on Discord or Telegram, or by email through the contact page.
We implement technical and organizational measures to protect the data we process:
- HTTPS across the entire site: all communication between your browser and hostdec.com is encrypted with TLS.
- No private key storage: HostDec never requests or stores your private keys. Transaction signing occurs exclusively in your wallet (MetaMask).
- Verified contract: the smart contract code is publicly verified on Arbiscan, enabling independent auditing.
- Minimal retention logs: technical logs are deleted periodically and are not used to identify individuals.
- Restricted access: only strictly necessary technical staff have access to infrastructure systems.
We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally to reflect changes in the protocol, applicable legislation or our practices. When we do:
- We will update the last modified date at the top of the document.
- We will publish a notice on the site or in community channels (Discord, Telegram) if the changes are significant.
- Changes will take effect 30 days after their publication for non-urgent changes.
We recommend reviewing this page periodically. Continued use of the service after changes are published implies acceptance of the new version.
If you have questions, inquiries or requests related to this Privacy Policy, you can contact us through the following channels:
- Discord community: the official HostDec channel is the fastest place to get answers.
- Telegram: official HostDec community group.
- Contact form: available at hostdec.com/contact.
- GitHub: for technical reports related to the protocol or the desktop app.
This policy was written and is maintained by the HostDec team. Last review: March 2026. Version 1.0.
